Illinois State University is renovating the G.E. Road building at G.E. Road and Hershey Avenue to house its new College of Engineering.

Connect Transit has scheduled four public engagement sessions to get feedback on proposed service changes planned for later this summer.

The transit agency plans to add a new route connect Illinois State University’s main campus with its new G.E. Road facility which is housing its new College of Engineering program.

Connect Transit also plans to expand peak service on its Aqua and Orange routes in south Bloomington, increase Sunday frequency for its Pink and Yellow service [north Normal], separate the current Pink/Yellow interlined service into two standalone routes and adjust the Connect Flex zone in southwest Bloomington.

The public engagement sessions will be held:

  • 2-5 p.m., June 2, Western Avenue Community Center, Bloomington
  • 4-7 p.m., June 3, ISU Alumni Center, Normal
  • 9:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m., June 4, Bloomington Public Library
  • 1-4 p.m., June 5, Connect Transit offices, Normal

The changes would go into effect on Aug. 16, when the G.E. Road building is scheduled to open for the start of fall classes.
