Village of Hudson taxpayers undercharged on their most recent tax bills will have a rate adjustment added to next year's bill.

About 600 corrected tax bills are in the mail after a miscalculation overcharged property owners near Hudson.

Taxpayers with parcels in Hudson Township, but outside the Village of Hudson's city limits, were incorrectly assigned a village tax on their 2026 tax bills.

Hudson Township encompasses a largely rural area north of Bloomington-Normal, including Lake Bloomington.

In a press release, McLean County Treasurer Rebecca McNeil said those affected should see a new tax bill with an overall rate that is 2.16% lower than what they were originally charged. McNeil said overpayments will be refunded by the County Collector, and updated tax amounts due are updated online.

The McLean County clerk's office is responsible for computing tax rates, while the treasurer acts as the county's tax collector.

The error also impacts Village of Hudson taxpayers. By distributing the tax levy across 600 more parcels, those responsible for paying a village tax were undercharged. McNeil said village taxpayers will have the rate adjustment added to next year's bill.
