Andy Byars said he is not running for reelection to the Normal Town Council.

Normal Town Council Andy Byars will not run for reelection in April 2027, according to a message he posted on social media.

“My passion for supporting Normal's growth remains as strong as it has ever been, and I'll look forward to continuing to be involved, just not in an elected official capacity,” Byars said in the message, but did not indicate why he was not seeking a second term.

A message to Byars was not immediately returned.

Byars, who was elected in 2023 and previously served on the town's planning commission, is the Midwest Operations Director at Recall Strategies. His is one of three at-large seats up for reelection next spring, along with council members Kathleen Lorenz and Karyn Smith.

Candidate filing for the spring municipal elections begins Oct. 19.
