McLean County Sheriff's Office
Christine E. Roush, left, and Matthew Isbell were arrested Friday.

The 22-year-old daughter of a woman whose body was found Sunday near a nature trail in Funks Grove was arrested Friday on murder charges, authorities said.

Christine E. Roush, 22, of Washington, Ill., faces preliminary first-degree murder charges, along with Matthew Isbell, 20, of Marquette Heights, authorities said. They were arrested Friday in Bloomington after an "extensive investigation" by the McLean County Criminal Investigations Division, McLean County state's attorney's office, and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services, authorities said.

Roush and Isbell are expected to be formally charged in court Saturday. More arrests are possible, authorities said, based on the evidence gathered so far.

The pair are charged in the slaying of Teresa A. Poehlman, 47, of East Peoria, whose body was found Sunday by two people walking their dog near the Sugar Grove Nature Center northeast of McLean. Roush is Poehlman's biological daughter.

A "Christine Elizabeth Roush," also age 22, faces drug possession charges in McLean County in a separate case, court records show. In that case, Roush was taken into custody June 10 and has been out on a personal recognizance bond since June 13, records show. It's unclear if this is the same Christine Roush that was arrested Friday in the Funks Grove case.

Those with information about the case are asked to contact Detective Cory Beverlin at (309) 888-5048.
