State Farm insurance continues its nationwide realignment of workers and units.

The latest State Farm Insurance unit to undergo realignment is State Farm Bank. The company says it is making about an 18 percent cut to the number of workers at State Farm Bank.

But, there will be an increase of about 100 bank employees in Bloomington-Normal as the company says it looks for ways to build a leaner, stronger company. The Bloomington-based insurance giant began studying the bank structure last fall and says in a fact sheet that it is reducing nationwide bank employment by 366 management, professional, and technical workers. The company says before the realignment State Farm Bank had a total of 2,000 such workers.

Most State Farm bank employees are in Bloomington, but there will continue to be a presence in Phoenix and St. Louis.
