A Bloomington man died of electrocution on Wednesday while doing work on a road sign in rural Hudson.

A McLean County Highway Department employee was killed Wednesday morning in what county officials have said was an electrocution.
County Administrator Camille Rodriguez and County Coroner Kathy Yoder issued a joint news release indicating a serious incident occurred in rural Hudson at about 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Scott Bundy, 41, of Bloomington, was taken to Advocate BroMenn Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:05 a.m.

Yoder said the preliminary investigation indicates Bundy was in a boom truck doing work on a road sign at 1200 East and 2250 North Road when he came in contact with a high-voltage power line.

A second employee was taken to the hospital with injuries that aren’t considered life threatening. County officials haven’t provided any other details.

McLean County officials said they are fully cooperating with OSHA and the Illinois Department of Labor.

Rodriguez said the county is offering supportive services to all highway department employees.

“Scott Bundy was a long-time employee and a valuable member of that team. He will be greatly missed,” Rodriguez said in a news release.
