There are now four people from three political parties who want the job of McLean County auditor in next year's elections.
The latest to announce his candidacy is Libertarian Kevin Woodard. Woodard lost a contest for County Board last year. His current job is in bill collecting. He is a former traffic engineer and cites degrees in civil engineering and business.
The other candidates are Republican incumbent Michelle Anderson, GOP challenger Trisha Malott, and Democrat Rob Fazzini.
The race has become attractive because of Anderson's clashes with other officeholders and county officials.
"Right now we have an incumbent Republican in office that isn't known for being in her office and available to serve when her presence is requested," Woodard said. "We have a Democrat challenger who at first wanted to eliminate the office but now states he thinks it should only be a part-time job and a Republican challenger who isn't sure if the job should be full-time or not."
The primary is in March. The filing period for next year's political contests begins Monday, Nov. 25.
