The McLean County Health Department announced no new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.

The McLean County Health Department has reported 232 confirmed cases of COVD-19 since the pandemic began. Nearly 90% of those people have recovered, while 14 patients are isolating at home, none are hospitalized, and 13 patients have died.

Testing increase

The COVID-19 testing clinic at the Interstate Center in Bloomington has seen an increase in the number of people seeking tests in recent days.

Since last Friday, the community-based testing site has averaged 102 tests per day, including 149 tests completed on Monday. In the 12 previous days since Pekin-based Reditus took over testing at the site, the clinic had been averaging 71 daily tests.

County and state health officials have encouraged people who have participated in recent social justice protests or other mass gatherings to get tested within five to six days.

The free clinic is open to anyone from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. Last week, Connect Transit started a shuttle to the site on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in 15-minute intervals from the nearby Bloomington Walmart.

According to Health Department Administrator Jessica McKnight, nearly 8,700 McLean County residents have been tested for the coronavirus. That puts the county's testing positivity rate at 2.6%
