McLean County Sees 12 More COVID Cases; 2 More In Hospital

The McLean County Health Department announced 12 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

McLean County health officials announced 12 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the largest single-day number since mid-May at the height of the outbreak at the Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
The McLean County Health Department said four COVID-19 patients are now hospitalized and 54 more are isolating at home. The 58 active cases also are the highest since the nursing home outbreak that infected dozens of residents and staff. Eleven people died in that outbreak.

The McLean County Health Department announced 12 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday,

“Like much of the country, we are seeing community spread in McLean County, meaning some who are infected with the virus are not sure how or where they became infected,” said McLean County Health Department Administrator Jessica McKnight.

The county has reported 333 confirmed coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic. Of those, 260 people have recovered and 15 have died.

The county’s seven-day positivity rate rose to 2.6%, while the county’s positivity rate since the start of the pandemic remains 2%. That’s based on about 16,400 COVID-19 tests. The state recently surpassed 2 million tests conducted.

The community-based testing site at the Interstate Center in Bloomington continues to see a brisk turnout. The McLean County Emergency Management Agency said the testing site conducted a record 434 tests on Monday. The site has been averaging 341 daily tests since July 6.

The site, run by Reditus of Pekin, is free to the general public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
