WGLT's reporting on the coronavirus pandemic, which began in McLean County in March 2020.

McLean County's Active COVID-19 Caseload Falls To Lowest Level In A Month

Reditus Labs

McLean County’s COVID-19 testing positivity rate held at 2.6%, as health officials reported 15 new confirmed cases Monday.

There are currently seven people hospitalized (down from eight on Sunday). An additional 60 people are now considered recovered, according to data from the McLean County Health Department (MCHD).

The number of active cases sits at 193, with 186 people isolating at home. The number of active cases is the lowest it has been since Aug. 20, shortly after college students returned to Bloomington-Normal for the fall semester. That move correlated with a spike in the number of new COVID-19 cases and the testing positivity rate. Both have since tamped down.

Illinois Wesleyan University reported one new confirmed COVID-19 case Sunday, bringing its total to 115 since the start of the semester, including 10 positives found through baseline testing before classes began. IWU currently has 16 active cases and a testing positivity rate of under 1%.

The most recent data from Illinois State University show 16 active cases, down from 27 the previous day, and a testing positivity rate of 1.5%. Fifteen positive cases were confirmed in the last week, based on 1,003 tests conducted on campus. That’s below the university’s goal to test 1,500 students per week.
