McLean County health officials reported 35 new coronavirus cases on Saturday while the county’s seven-day testing positivity rate held steady at 3%.
According to the McLean County Health Department (MCHD), eight patients are in the hospital with COVID; that’s down one from Friday, and none are in intensive care. The department said 194 patients are isolating at home and 3,313 patients have completed their quarantine and are considered recovered.
The county has had 26 COVID-related deaths since the start of the pandemic, including three this week.
The county’s testing positivity rate since the start of the pandemic is 4.4% based on more than 81,100 tests.
Flu vaccines
MCHD Administrator Jessica McKnight is trying to assure parents that medical facilities have safety measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
A national survey says 1 in 3 parents won't get their child a flu shot this year, and McKnight suspects part of the reason is concern about the coronavirus.
“We have also had to reassess what we do (with) all of our health visits,” she said. “We make sure we are doing it in the safest manner possible, keeping social distance which is difficult if you are giving a vaccine.”
