McLean County health officials have announced 76 new confirmed coronavirus cases since Friday, as the county saw an increase in hospitalizations to its highest level since the start of the pandemic.
The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) reported 14 COVID-19 patients are in the hospital Monday, up three from Friday. None are in intensive care.
The new total in cases accounts for the last three days after the health department stopped posting daily COVID updates on weekends.
MCHD reported 294 patients are isolating at home, an increase of 12 since Friday. The county has reported 30 COVID-related deaths.
The county’s seven-day testing positivity rate dropped to 3.7%, while the cumulative positivity rate remains 4.3%, based on 89,000 tests conducted since the start of the pandemic.
The new caseload brings McLean County’s overall count to 3,858 cases, while 3,520 patients have completed their time in isolation and are considered recovered.
Illinois State University reported no new coronvirus cases on Monday and seven confirmed cases over the weekend. The campus has 35 active coronavirus cases and a seven-day positivity rate of 2.2%.
Nursing home outbreaks
Data from the Illinois Department of Public Health’s listing of COVID outbreaks at long-term care facilities in McLean County show 30 new coronavirus cases from Oct. 9 to Oct. 16, including 21 new cases and two deaths at Bickford Senior Living of Bloomington.
Bickford has had 36 coronavirus cases since Oct. 2. Company representatives have not returned messages seeking comment.
