UPDATED 3:10 p.m. | One woman was killed and another injured in a shooting early Saturday in downtown Bloomington, police said. A suspect is in custody.

The shooting happened around 12:45 a.m. in the 500 block of North Main Street, near a long row of downtown taverns, restaurants and shops.

Arrested at the scene was Michael Bakana, 41, of Normal. He was charged with murder, attempted murder, and aggravated battery with a firearm, prosecutors said. He was being held at the McLean County jail on $2 million bond.

Bakana was seen on video arguing with two women on the sidewalk outside Daddio's bar, prosecutors said. The video shows Bakana shooting the women after one of them shoved him away from them, prosecutors said. Bakana allegedly fired 10 shots at the women and later admitted to police that he was the gunman, prosecutors said.

Dead at the scene was Mariah C. Petracca, 22, of Bloomington, authorities said. Preliminary autopsy results show she died from multiple gunshot wounds, said McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder. The other woman, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital.

Bloomington Police said the shooting was an isolated incident, preceded by a dispute between the victims and Bakana.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bloomington Detective Jones at (309) 434-2548 or via email.

Editor's note: This story has been updated to correct Bakana's age. Police say he is 41, not 45.
