Police pride themselves on not giving up even sometimes after decades. That came to light this week with a resolution to a 1984 robbery and murder in Bloomington. Police spokeswoman Sara Mayer says that's not the only one still getting attention and effort. They have six homicide cases they consider cold right now. Detectives periodically review those to see whether a fresh eye will generate a new lead, new story, or some evidence. There are still two Bloomington murders unsolved dating to the 1970s. One involves a cinder block beating in a downtown alley....the other a juvenile reported missing and found four months later in the crawl space of a home. There is also a 1983 arsenic poisoning of a woman who drank from a juice container in her refrigerator. Three other homicides are more recent, a stabbing outside a Bloomington bar in 2008, the killing of a homeless man under a viaduct in 2012, and the death of a young woman whose body was found west of town some time after she disappeared from Bloomington in 2013.
1977 Jay Ray Timmons: found dead in an alley with a cinder block strike to his head.
1979 A citizen found the decomposed body of a juvenile teenager in a crawl space of a building. The juvenile had been reported missing for four months
1983 Lucinda Jackson: poisoned with arsenic in a juice container stored in her refrigerator in Bloomington.
2008 Joshua Embry stabbed outside Six Strings Bar in downtown Bloomington.
2012 Homeless man Robert Jeronimus was found beaten under the viaduct at Main and Center.
2013 Haileigh Eichorn was found in a field near Stanford after she disappeared from Bloomington more than a week earlier.
