The divide between Republicans about who their presidential nominee should be is playing out in harsh tones ahead of the Illinois primary. Dan Duffy is a state senator from Chicago’s northwest suburbs. And he’s an Illinois delegate for Florida Senator Marco Rubio. Duffy says he’s tried to get Donald Trump supporters in Illinois to switch to his candidate.
"I think a lot of Donald Trump supporters have already made up their mind on what they’re gonna do and I don’t think any information that you give them about Donald Trump is going to persuade them to vote another way even though of course I’ll continue to try that," Duffy said.
Duffy says the success of Trump’s campaign scares him, because he thinks Trump doesn’t understand how government works.
Meanwhile, a Trump delegate in Illinois, says he thinks people like Duffy and other opponents of Trump will come around - as he keeps winning primaries.
