Bloomington-Normal home sales and prices in July top June totals, but still lag 2018 units sold.

Two of what are typically the busiest home-selling months of the year were a bit slower in Bloomington-Normal.

The number of home sales in June and July fell 10% from this time a year ago, the Bloomington-Normal Association of Realtors reported Thursday. In total, 579 homes were sold in June and July, down from 647 a year ago.

Overall sales are down 8.6% through the first seven months of 2019, compared with 2018, BNAR reported.

The average price of an existing home—the bulk of the Twin City market—is now $175,789. That's up 2.3% from this time a year ago.

Meanwhile, the market for new construction continues to struggle. Just 21 new homes have been sold in 2019. That's down 63% from 2018.
