Beer Nuts is shifting to quick-stop and pick-up service on June 1.

MUSEUM CANCELS HISTORY MAKERS GALA
5:20 p.m. Monday, May 4

The McLean County Museum of History has canceled its 9th annual History Makers Gala due to COVID-19. The gala is rescheduled for June 16, 2021.

This year’s honorees are Carole and Jerry Ringer, Marilyn and Robert Sutherland, and Barbara Stuart. They are being recognized for their community impacts in education, arts, culture, social justice and philanthropy.

The gala serves as the museum’s annual members meeting and provides financial support for public educational programming throughout McLean County.

BEER NUTS ADDS CURBSIDE SALES
5 p.m. Monday, May 4

Beer Nuts has announced its company store will shift to quick-stop and year-round curbside pickup at its company store location at 103 N. Robinson St., starting June 1.

“We have been evolving with the shifts in consumer habits, which have accelerated in the past two months and we want to continue on that path while still providing an experience to those who would like to come into our store to shop,” said Beer Nuts President Andy Shirk.

Beer Nuts has been experimenting with curbside service during the shelter-in-place order and encourages customers to call in or email their orders. Customers also will  be able to make purchases through the company’s website and app.

MIDWEST FOOD BANK TO GET CHICKEN SHIPMENTS 
4:30 p.m. Monday, May 4

Tyson has announced it will be sending semi loads of chickens to Midwest Food Bank locations in Normal and Peoria, and Florida, Georgia and Indiana over the next six weeks to distribute to food banks during the pandemic.

“This donation is an incredible resource of protein for our partner agencies,” said Tara Ingham, executive director of Midwest Food Bank in Normal. “It’s a perfect mesh with our efforts to provide more nutritious food, and it is helping reduce waste in the food supply chain.”

Midwest Food Bank has delivered 27 semi loads of food and other relief during the COVID-19 crisis and has 33 more deliveries planned.
