McLean County continues to see a drop in new coronavirus cases as health officials report their lowest one-day total since Oct. 15.The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) reported 12 coronavirus cases and no deaths on Thursday.
Hospital bed capacity remains limited in McLean County as 81% of Bloomington-Normal hospital beds are full, while 62% of ICU beds are occupied. That’s down from 65% on Wednesday.
Twenty-four McLean County residents remain hospitalized with COVID-19 complications, though Bloomington-Normal hospitals currently have 17 COVID patients.
MCHD said 462 people are isolating at home, while 13,014 patients have been released from isolation and are considered recovered.
The county’s COVID death toll stands at 146.
The county’s seven-day testing positivity rate dropped to 4.7%, the lowest mark since Oct. 22. The county’s cumulative positivity rate dipped to 6.4% based on more than 211,500 tests conducted since the start of the pandemic.
Vaccines
MCHD reported more than 9,500 vaccines have been administered in the county. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 1,354 McLean County residents have received both vaccine doses.
The county’s rate of people fully vaccinated is .78%, well below the state average of 1.26%.
The county health department has said it will announce new vaccination clinics each Thursday on its website.
