GLT Datebook: Spirits of Bloomington/Normal

Debroah Carr Senger

A noted local medium and ghost tour guide has just published a book about the lively dead of the Twin Cities.  Deborah Carr Senger is the author of Haunted Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, just available on Arcadia History Press.

  • Senger was approached several years ago to write the tome with her business partner, Chris Hotz.  When Hotz became unavailable, Senger dove into the project herself.
  • Though she had never written a book before, Senger sought advice and hunkered down over the manuscript while she recovered from a leg injury.
  • Some of the spirits in the book have been in the spotlight during the ghost tours Senger leads through Bloomington, but there's also a few new surprises in store for fans of the local supernatural scene.
  • Deborah Carr Senger is making a variety of appearances around the Twin Cities, including a book signing at the Crusin' With Lincoln on Rt. 66 Visitors Center at the McLean County Museum of History Museum in Bloomington on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 AM to noon.
Reporter, content producer and former All Things Considered host, Laura Kennedy is a native of the Midwest who occasionally affects an English accent just for the heck of it. Related to two U.S. presidents, Kennedy appalled her family by going into show business.
