The new chief judge for the circuit that includes McLean County is Mark Fellheimer.
He'll replace Judge Kevin Fitzgerald as chief in July. Fitzgerald recently moved up his retirement date to stagger the appointment of associate judges.
The chief judge has general administrative authority over the court and judicial assignments. Fitzgerald's term as chief expires at the end of the year. At that point full circuit judges will vote again on a new chief. It is not uncommon for chief judges to serve multiple terms.
Fellheimer has been on the bench since 2008 and a full circuit judge since 2016.
The Eleventh Judicial Circuit includes McLean, Livingston, Ford, Logan, and DeWitt counties.
