Connect Mobility riders will pay substantially lower fares beginning July 5.

Bloomington-Normal's public bus system will cut fares for people with disabilities and raise them for everybody else.

The Connect Transit board has approved a one fare for all rate structure of $1.25, starting July 5. Connect Mobility and Paratransit fares had cost up to $4 per ride.

“We are excited to take the Connect to the Future Working Group recommendations and put them into action. It is very clear that the Work Group values Connect Transit service in our community, and we are thankful for all of their hard work.” said Connect Transit General Manager Isaac Thorne.

The board also has extended free rides until July 5.

Also, riders will have to wear face covers to use the bus until further notice.
