Authorities are looking for the public's help finding a burglary suspect who allegedly caused a high-speed crash on Veterans Parkway on Sunday as he fled police.
The suspect is Floyd Brown, 39, of Springfield. He may have been injured in the crash and should be considered armed and dangerous, Bloomington Police said.
Police, who've been investigating a string of burglaries on Bloomington's east and southeast side, say Brown burglarized a residence Sunday night in the 3200 block of Dorset Court in east Bloomington. Officers located Brown in the nearby 900 block of Arcadia Drive later Sunday, police said.
Brown then allegedly got into a black Dodge Charger and fled, police said. He drove through several backyards and lost the police who were in pursuit, according to BPD.
Soon after, Brown allegedly turned northbound onto Veterans Parkway without his headlights on, causing a multivehicle crash at GE Road. Brown fled on foot, police said, and he may be trying to get back to his home in Springfield.
"Brown should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached," Bloomington Police said.
Those with information about Brown's whereabouts are asked to call BPD at (309) 820-8888. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (309) 828-1111.
