Five nursing homes and retirement communities in McLean County have now gone a month without a new case of COVID-19, leading the Illinois Department of Public Health to remove them from the list of active outbreaks.
Four other facilities in the county have gone two weeks without a new case, but remain on the active roll.
In fact, there has been just one new COVID case at a long-term care facility in the county in the last week, and only three the week before as vaccinations of the elderly population take hold. Seven facilities remain on the active list--half the number at the peak of outbreaks.
Facilities that have just closed outbreaks:
- Luther Oaks
- Evergreen Supportive Living
- Arcadia Care Bloomington
- The Sugar Creek Alzheimer's unit in Normal
- Westminster Assisted Living
Facilities without a new case in at least two weeks:
- Heritage Health Normal
- McLean County Nursing Home
- The Lofts Rehabilitation and Nursing of Normal
- Westminster Village
Facilities with fresh COVID cases in the last two weeks :
- Bickford of Bloomington, 1
- Heritage Health Bloomington, 2
- Village of Mercy Creek, 1
Four people have died in connection with long-term care facilities in McLean County in the last two weeks.
IDPH reported 16 closed outbreaks as of Friday. Some facilities have had more than one outbreak since the pandemic began.
