Summer Chamber Music Fest Returns To Bloomington

Illinois Chamber Music Festival

Starting this weekend, classical music lovers in central Illinois have their annual opportunity for three weeks of chamber music concerts at Illinois Wesleyan University.

This is the 14th annual Illinois Chamber Music Festival. Violist and Organizer Lisa Nelson said in this interview with GLT's Charlie Schlenker, the festival began as a small organization but that label doesn't really fit any more.

Illinois Chamber Music Festival Concerts begin Sunday evening and run Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons for the next three weeks. There is also a children's concert on Saturday afternoon July 23rd. Student concerts happen throughout the three week period.

The Illinois Chamber Music Festival receives grant support from the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation, Town of Normal Harmon Arts Grants, and the Illinois Arts Council.

WGLT Senior Reporter Charlie Schlenker has spent more than three award-winning decades in radio. He lives in Normal with his family.
