Suspect Arrested In Fatal Stabbing On Bloomington's West Side

Police are investigating the death of a white male on West Seminary Avenue in Bloomington.

UPDATED 2:20 p.m. | A 44-year-old Normal man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing on Bloomington's west side, police said.

Larry Knell of Normal was arrested Friday night.

A SWAT team arrested Larry E. Knell on Friday night in the parking lot of a Bloomington gas station, police said. He emerged as a suspect after another man's body was found in the roadway in the 600 block of West Seminary Avenue early Friday morning.

The victim, Dale E. Baughman, 59, of Normal, died of multiple stab wounds, said Coroner Kathleen Yoder.

Knell became a suspect after interviews with witnesses and a review of electronic evidence across Bloomington-Normal. A suspect vehicle was identified and an arrest warrant issued.

Knell is being held at the McLean County jail on $2 million bond.
