Tri-Valley Middle School was named one of 25 Illinois elementary, middle, and high schools to receive a 2019 National Blue Ribbon Schools award.
A press release from the Illinois State Board of Education states the award brings recognition to “exemplary schools” and facilitates communication and the sharing of best practices between schools.
“Illinois’ Blue Ribbon Schools are nationwide leaders in academic achievement. They challenge students to think critically about today’s and tomorrow’s issues and equip students with the skills they need to thrive,” State Superintendent of Education Carmen Ayala said.
Tri-Valley is the only middle school to receive the award in Illinois.
The Downs school will be recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos at a mid-November ceremony in Washington, D.C.
