The head of sexual assault prevention and survivor services at Illinois State University said Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump's comments and the videotape of him talking about grabbing women's genitals is causing a lot of conversation among women students at ISU.
Gail Trimpe-Morrow said the idea that this is reflective of all men has an impact for both men and women.
"Certainly some strong reactions on his comments really reinforcing rape culture," said Trimpe-Morrow.
Trimpe-Morrow said the women are feeling distress.
"It's pretty frightening to see a man potentially in a position of power that really normalizes sexual harassment, sexual assaults and continues to portray men as entitled to women," said Trimpe-Morrow.
She said she talks a lot with survivors about rape culture as it impacts the insidious belief that they are responsible for what happened to them.
Trimpe-Morrow said there is an irony in that Trump's comments, as misogynistic as they are, are raising an important issue in the Presidential campaign.
