UPDATED 11:30 a.m. | McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder has identified the victim of a fatal house fire in Normal on Wednesday.

The coroner said Judith Dawson, 76, was pronounced dead shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

Yoder said Dawson died from carbon monoxide intoxication caused by inhaling smoke and soot in the fire.

The fire broke out around 3:30 p.m. at 1313 Baugh Drive, near Towanda and Vernon avenues, the Normal Fire Department said in a statement. First responders found the woman inside the smoke-filled home, and she was taken to Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, where she later died.

The fire—including its cause—remains under investigation by the coroner's office, Normal Fire Department, and Normal Police.
