Beatrice is the Leadership Lived Student Worker for NPR Illinois. She is in the Capital Honors Scholars Program majoring in communications graduating in May 2018. She hopes to then enter the Public Affairs Reporting Program at UIS in Fall 2018 where she will continue to sharpen her skills in public radio and television broadcast. Beatrice has acted as a multimedia consultant and co-host at Teen Talk Radio Theater in Chicago.

H. Wayne Wilson covers Peoria City Hall for WCBU. He also produces documentaries and hosts a half-hour talk show on WTVP-TV.

Steph is new to the midwest. Originally from North Carolina, Steph has previously lived in Washington DC and Northern California, where she reported on a wide variety of issues including health, politics, and women’s issues. She also has a background in social media and audience engagement.

Sydney Boles is the Ohio Valley ReSource reporter covering the economic transition in the heart of Appalachia’s coal country.

John Vettese is a music writer and photographer based in Philadelphia. He is the editor of WXPN's music blog The Key, producer of the audio/video live performance series The Key Studio Sessions, and a contributor to Magnet Magazine.

Chris comes to KCUR as part of Guns & America, a reporting collaboration between 10 public media stations that is focused on the role of guns in American life. Hailing from Springfield, Illinois, Chris has lived in seven states and four counties. He previously served in the Army, and reported for newspapers in Kansas and Michigan. Chris lives in downtown Kansas City. He roots for St. Louis sports teams, which means he no longer cares about the NFL.

Erik Neumann is a radio producer and writer. A native of the Pacific Northwest, his work has appeared on public radio stations and in magazines along the West Coast. He received his Bachelor's Degree in geography from the University of Washington and a Master's in Journalism from UC Berkeley. Besides working at KUER, he enjoys being outside in just about every way possible.
