Cheney's Work at Halliburton
NPR's Wade Goodwyn reports from Dallas on Dick Cheney's five-year tenure as Chief Executive of Halliburton Company, the world's largest provider of oil field equipment and services. Using his experience as Defense Secretary, Cheney transformed Halliburton into a much larger and more profitable company. He also used the connections he'd made at DOD to expand Halliburton's international operations. As a result, Cheney and the company both have profited handsomely.
Minnesota - Rod Grams
Minnesota Republican Rod Grams is considered one of the most vulnerable US Senators facing re-election this fall. He's a staunch conservative in a state with a long history of progressive politics, but he's also a maverick in a state known for its independence. Anemic poll numbers and a modest legislative record brought lots of challengers into this month's Democratic primary, but the big field may prove to be Grams best defense. Minnesota Public Radio's Michael Khoo reports.
