Victims
Robert Siegel and Linda Wertheimer provide some backround on the victims who were shot Santana High School yesterday.
MMR Autism
NPR's Jon Hamilton reports on a new study showing no link between a commonly used childhood vaccine and autism. The 14-year-long study in California kindergartens failed to find an association between a rise in reported autism cases in the state and the MMR vaccine. The research appears in Wednesday's issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Ergometrics
NPR's Kathleen Schalch reports that many business groups are working overtime to undo new regulations created in the waning days of the Clinton Administration. They are hopeful that with a Congress and White House now headed by Republicans they can get what they term regulatory relief. Now, they may be on the brink of winning the biggest prize of all--a roll back of OSHA's new ergonomic regulation. Senate Republicans are invoking a law that's never been used before--which allows congress to overturn regulations under a streamlined procedure, with a majority vote.
Turkey Attack
George is the name of a four-foot tall wild turkey living in a Newtonville, MA neighborhood. Because of him, mail delivery in the area has become a bit of a problem. Turns out George doesn't like the mail carrier all that much. Tim Hoban is the man who draws George's ire. The bird lunges, squawks and pecks at Hogan while he travels his daily route. He won't attack other carriers, just Hogan. Robert talks with postman about the foul fowl.
HIV Drug Patents
NPR's Jon Hamilton reports on the drug industry's efforts to protect their patents in developing nations. Countries like Brazil are trying to make generic HIV drugs cheaper and more accessible. Drug companies say this would cut profits in ALL markets and hinder future drug research and development. Jon's report is part of an ongoing series.

Hispanic Power
Commentator Ruben Navarette says there's a difference between where Hispanics are politically and where they should be in terms of their demographics. While the population of Hispanics is rising, the number of Hispanic representatives at all levels of government hasn't kept pace.
Israel Fears
NPR Senior News Analyst Daniel Schorr says that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is forming a government against a backdrop of fear and that there are few signs that the new premier will soon be able to put the Israeli people at ease.

Wine in Turkey
Dorian Jones reports on the hottest trend in Istanbul: drinking wine. Turkey has traditionally steered clear of the drink because of age-old religious values and the popularity of other, more local drinks. But that's changing as young Turks embrace the habits -- and cuisine -- of Western Europe.
