Terror Trial
Robert Siegel speaks with NPR's Melissa Block about today's testimony by several survivors of the bombings of two U.S. embassies in Africa in 1998. Four men are on trial on charges of conspiracy in the bombings, which the government believes was masterminded by Saudi exile Osama Bin Laden.
Submarine Inquiry Continues
NPR's Andy Bowers reports that lawyers for the captain of a Navy submarine which struck a Japanese fishing boat took a defensive tack during a military inquiry yesterday. Attorneys for Captain Scott Waddle dispute testimony that the sub's crew was confused and rushed in the final moments before the accident.

Guard Off Guard
NPR's Howard Berkes reports on serious problems with the National Guard units that are trained to deal with domestic terrorism. The Defense Department inspector general says the units are not adequately organized, equipped or trained.
Olive Garden
Trish Anderton of New Hampshire Public Radio reports that as more disabled Americans enter the workforce some are experiencing harassment by their co-workers. In New Hampshire, a retarded man is alleged to have been abused by co-workers at an Olive Garden restaurant. He has filed a law suit against the restaurant chain.
Mexican Rebel Leader
NPR's Gerry Hadden reports on the masked leader of the Mexican Zapatista rebels, Subcommander Marcos. Some say if Marcos wants to succeed in his campaign for Indian rights, he must turn his group of guerillas into a legitimate political force.

The Use of DNA
NPR's Barbara Bradley reports on the use of a DNA databank, which stores the genetic information of convicted felons, to help find the perpetrators in otherwise unsolvable cases. Currently, Virginia has the largest databank of all the states, but other states are working to adopt the crime-solving technique as well.

Rejected Workplace Regulations
NPR's Peter Kenyon reports Congressional lawmakers were able to overturn recent Clinton Administration workplace regulations by using a new law called the Congressional Review Act. Members of both parties helped pass the measure five years ago, and it allows lawmakers to reject new federal rules with a simple majority vote. Democrats who voted FOR the Act now regret their support.

Domestic Violence Law
NPR's Michael Sullivan reports that women's rights activists are trying to introduce a law against domestic violence. The country has no such law, although women are routinely injured, or even murdered, in their homes.
