David Berenbaum, the deputy assistant secretary for housing counseling at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, spoke to around 400 attendees of the Housing Action Illinois annual conference in Bloomington about how to prepare the next generation of homeowners for the task. El Paso-Gridley's Michael Melick named Illinois Historical Society teacher of the year
El Paso's Project XV voting rights museum began as a class project in Michael Melick's course. The state historical society gives a $1,000 prize to one teacher each year for outstanding ways of engaging Illinois history.
Federal grant to Chestnut Health Systems supports research on drug addiction and the justice system
Previous studies suggest people are at highest risk for an overdose exiting prison or jail. A $1.1 million, 5-year clinical trial aims to develop repeatable, evidence-based strategies to reduce overdose-related deaths.
