New Partnership Inspires Creativity In Kids

A new grant to the Children's Discovery Museum has allowed it to throw open the doors to let the kids go out and about to find new artistic experiences and spark a little creativity.

The new program is called Art Around You: Exploring Contemporary Art in the Community. The explorations take the kids to the nearby University Galleries, where they discover the style and media of works on display. In this GLT postcard, follow a gaggle of girls as they are introduced to the works of artist William Cordova when they visit the University Galleries for the very first time and learn that fresh inspiration is all around them.

WGLT depends on financial support from users to bring you stories and interviews like this one. As someone who values experienced, knowledgeable, and award-winning journalists covering meaningful stories in central Illinois, please consider making a contribution.

Reporter, content producer and former All Things Considered host, Laura Kennedy is a native of the Midwest who occasionally affects an English accent just for the heck of it. Related to two U.S. presidents, Kennedy appalled her family by going into show business.
