Last year, many Bloomington-Normal residents saw their electric bills jump 40% in some cases, even after the municipalities teamed together with other Illinois governments. And there are signs the summer could produce some volatile electric rates again.

A federal agency has given the Clinton nuclear power plant another 20 years of life.

Clinton Clean Energy Center on Tuesday celebrated an agreement with Facebook parent Meta which will allow the plant to continue operating for the next 20 years after facing fears of closure.
