Police In Normal Catch Suspect In String Of Car Burglaries

Creative Commons

Police in Normal have arrested a man they believe is a one-man car burglary wave.

Officers say they found 22-year old Marquel Butler of Bloomington in the 1500 block of Torrey Pines Road early Tuesday morning.

After a brief foot chase, police say they found Butler still had stolen items with him including firearm ammunition in magazines and prescription narcotics.

Police say they identified additional victims on Phaeton Place, Landau Lane, Surrey, and Stanhope Lane. Officers also link Butler to vehicle burglaries last month near Belt Avenue and Lara Road.

Police link Butler to the earlier crimes through stolen credit card use.

Butler is also currently on parole and a Department of Corrections warrant seeks his return to prison.

Police urge people to lock their vehicles, garages, and homes.
