An Illinois State University student who was reported missing in Normal on Thursday night has been found dead near a creek. Authorities say no foul play is suspected.

Matthew Listman, 21, was last seen around 10:15 p.m. Thursday near North Main Street and Orlando Avenue in Normal, authorities said. He was reported missing Friday.

Listman's body was found around 10 p.m. Friday near a creek area in the 900 block of North Main Street, near Fairview Park, just a few blocks south of where he was last seen, authorities said Saturday.

A preliminary autopsy indicates that Listman died of drowning, in the setting of cold exposure. It "does not appear to be criminal in nature," according to a joint statement from the Normal Police Department and McLean County coroner's office. Toxicology tests are pending.

Listman was from Libertyville. He was a senior business administration major at ISU.

In a statement released Saturday, ISU president Terri Goss Kinzy issued condolences to Listman's family, classmates and friends.

"Losing anyone is painful, but that pain is especially acute when we lose someone who is just starting their journey in life," the statement read. "Matthew’s passing is a shocking loss to our tightknit College of Business community, and he will be greatly missed."
