Authorities said Melissa “Missie” Ostrom, 39, of Bloomington, was found dead Thursday following what authorities described as an extensive search.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help tracking the movements of a Bloomington woman who went missing Monday and was found dead three days later.

Melissa “Missie” Ostrom, 39, was found dead Thursday following what authorities described as an extensive search by Bloomington Police, the McLean County Sheriff’s Office, and the McLean County Emergency Management Agency.

Authorities did not say where the body was found and have not indicated a cause of death. An autopsy is pending.

Ostrom was reported missing Monday, and BPD put out a call for the public’s help to find her on Tuesday. Ostrom was known to frequent Bloomington-Normal and nearby small towns.

Bloomington Police say they’d like to hear from anyone who knows where Ostrom was between 1:45 a.m. Monday and 11 p.m. Wednesday. During this time, she was wearing black and white Nike tennis shoes, gray sweatpants, a black sweatshirt, and a red/white striped Baja hoody.

Police said Ostrom’s movements during this timeframe may have also been related to a dark gray 2017 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck with IL license 3228994B and/or a burgundy 2010 Chevrolet Camaro with IL license E207788.

“The circumstances behind this incident are still pending investigation by the Bloomington Police Department and the McLean County Coroner's Office,” according to a statement from BPD.
