Illinois State Police has released the name of a Decatur woman who died Friday in a two-vehicle crash south of Heyworth.

Police said 44-year-old Quiana Boateng was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that happened around 12:30 p.m. on northbound U.S. Route 51, just south of U.S. Route 136 in Randolph Township.

According to a preliminary investigation, Boateng was driving a car that was stopped in the traffic lane on northbound U.S. 51 and was rear-ended by a sport-utility vehicle that did not stop in time.

The SUV driver, 19-year-old Andrew Benbow of Aurora, was issued a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Benbow refused medical attention.
