A prominent Bloomington attorney has been disciplined by the body that oversees lawyers in the state of Illinois.
The Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission has censured Jim Ginzkey, saying on Tuesday that Ginzkey knowingly violated a court order by providing privileged documents to an expert witness in a medical malpractice case.
Censure is one of six different grades of discipline the commission can impose, and is relatively low on the scale. It is above only a formal reprimand and less than disbarment, indefinite suspension, suspension for a limited time, and probation.
Ginzkey has done malpractice work and other kinds of personal legal representation since 1979 and has argued a case before the U.S. Supreme Court.
