You can expect delays along a busy stretch of Veterans Parkway that's undergoing construction for the next three months.

Construction began Monday on a stretch of Veterans between Clearwater Avenue to Old Route 66 on the northwest side of Normal. The $7 million project includes two miles of patching, milling and resurfacing and has an estimated completion date of Sept. 30, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area when feasible, drivers should consider alternate routes. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
