16-year-old boy in critical condition after shooting in Bloomington

Bloomington Police say a 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after a shooting reported on Thanksgiving morning.

According to a news release from Bloomington Police, officers were called around 10:53 a.m. to the 400 block of Valley View Circle on the city's west side for a reported shooting. Officers found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound.

The teen was transported to an area hospital, then was flown to another hospital, where he is listed in critical condition, said police.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim of this violent encounter,” Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington said in a statement.

Police have not indicated whether any suspects have been identified, and that the circumstances behind the incident remain under investigation.
