The McLean County coroner's office has identified the Bloomington man found in a ditch off 1025 East Road in Heyworth. Jamere Bew, 31, was pronounced dead on-scene when his body was found Saturday. Initial autopsy results show Bew died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Law enforcement agencies are investigating the death of a man found in a ditch in Funks Grove Township on Saturday, according to a joint release from the McLean County sheriff's office and Bloomington Police.

Around 7 a.m. Saturday, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to an area around 1375 East Road and 700 North Road, south of Bloomington, for a report of a woman who was looking for a man. The man was alleged to be a victim of violence.

Then, at an unspecified time Saturday, investigations by the McLean County sheriff's office and the Bloomington Police Department led to BPD's SWAT and crisis negotiations teams being called to an apartment in the 1600 block of Springfield Road in Bloomington. Two people in that apartment were detained by police.

In the news release, the McLean County sheriff's office said around 12:30 p.m. Saturday that an unresponsive male was found in a ditch near Route 136 and 1025 East Road. That's a rural area between McLean and Heyworth.

The McLean County coroner's office and State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit were called to the scene.

Jamere Bew, 31, was pronounced dead on-site. Initial autopsy results show Bew, of Bloomington, died from multiple gunshot wounds.

No other information is being released at this time, police said.
