Woman faces murder charge after shooting in Ellsworth

The McLean County coroner on Thursday identified the man found at the scene as 41-year-old Daniel Shelby of Ellsworth. A preliminary autopsy indicated he died following multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities say a woman faces murder charges in connection with a fatal shooting Wednesday morning in Ellsworth.

Desiree Robertson was arrested at the scene of the shooting at 302 N. East St. in Ellsworth, said McLean County Sheriff Matt Lane. Ellsworth is a small town about 17 miles east of Bloomington-Normal in rural McLean County.

McLean County sheriff’s deputies were called out around 8 a.m. Wednesday for a reported shooting. They searched the residence and found 41-year-old Ellsworth man Daniel Shelby dead at the scene. A preliminary autopsy indicated he died from multiple gunshot wounds. A toxicology test is pending.

The McLean County coroner’s office, sheriff’s office and State Police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Henkel at (309) 888-5049.
