A McLean County jury on Tuesday convicted a Bloomington man on murder charges in a January 2022 shooting death.
Jaylin Bones, 24, was found guilty of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.
Bloomington Police arrested Bones in February 2023 in connection with the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Timothy Manns. Prosecutors say Bones attacked Manns and fatally shot him in an apartment in the 600 block of West Jefferson Street in Bloomington.
“Nothing we do in the courtroom will ease the pain of the loss of a loved one, but it is our hope that this will provide some peace to the victim’s family and friends,” McLean County State’s Attorney Erika Reynolds said in a statement.
Bond for Bones was revoked following the conviction. He will remain in custody ahead of his sentencing scheduled for July 30.
He is eligible for up to 45 years in prison.
