A 33-year-old Bloomington woman is charged with causing her son's death following a July 3 car crash.

McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder confirmed Raymundo Bucio Flores, 8, died at the hospital after suffering multiple injuries related to last week's crash on Interstate-74 near Bloomington.

The boy's mother, Stephany Flores-Ramirez, faces four felony counts of aggravated driving under the influence causing unintentional death and bodily harm.

As conditions of her pretrial release, Flores-Ramirez is subject to court supervision, ankle monitoring and a substance abuse evaluation. According to court records, she is prohibited from operating a motor vehicle and required to refrain from drugs and alcohol.

At the time of the crash, court filings show Flores-Ramirez was under supervision for driving while using an electronic communication device and has been previously charged with speeding and driving without a license or valid insurance.

Her son was a student at Stevenson Elementary School in Bloomington. A GoFundMe arranged by his paternal aunt in his honor has raised more than $14,000. Bucio Flores’ obituary describes him as loving his Nintendo Switch and as someone who was a “joy to everyone” and “could light up a room.”

Flores-Ramirez is scheduled for arraignment on July 19.
