A State Farm employee has announced he is running for Bloomington City Council in Ward 9.

Roger Bedeker said in a news release he will focus on reducing taxpayer burden, promoting economic development, addressing aging infrastructure, and keeping residents safe.
“I am passionate about what lies ahead for our community. I will listen to the concerns of our residents and work collaboratively to find effective solutions for a brighter future,” said Bedeker.
Ward 9 is on the city's northeast side. Tom Crumpler currently holds the office.
Bedeker said he grew up in Central Illinois, and has worked at State Farm for 18 years in a variety of roles.
"Together, we can make Bloomington an even better place to live, work, and raise a family," Bedeker continued. "I am dedicated to serving our community with integrity and look forward to the opportunity to make a positive impact."
Bedeker and his wife Rachel have two children who attend Unit 5 schools. He said he holds a B.A. in organizational management from Ashford University. He volunteers for several charitable organizations.
The nonpartisan municipal election takes place in April 2025.
