Golf legend Lee Trevino, seen here during preparations for the British Open golf championship in 2022, will headline the Red Cross' annual Evening of Stars gala in October at Illinois State University.

The American Red Cross has announced golf legend Lee Trevino will headline this year's Evening of Stars event on Oct. 24.

The 29th annual event at Illinois State University’s Brown Ballroom is the largest annual fundraiser for the Central Illinois chapter of the Red Cross. It funds Red Cross' disaster response, blood donation and other services across the state.

“We encourage everyone to join us for an inspiring night with Lee, a legendary golfer and incredible person,” said Lyn Hruska, executive director of the Central Illinois chapter of the American Red Cross.

Trevino won 29 PGA tournaments during his Hall of Fame career, including six Major championships.

“I’m honored to have this opportunity to partner with an organization that works daily to carry out its lifesaving mission. I hope you’ll join us for an inspiring night!” Trevino said in a statement.

The Evening of Stars event has presented a who’s who list of top sports celebrities over the years, including NFL legend Emmitt Smith in 2023, along with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers and broadcaster Joe Buck, among others.

Tickets are on sale now. More information is available at redcross.org/eveningofstars.
