First responders from Normal and Gridley fire departments were among those involved in the rescue of a person trapped Thursday afternoon in a Livingston County grain bin.
Around 3:18 p.m., the Pontiac Fire Department and Flanagan-Graymont Fire District were dispatched to 17052 N 500 E Road in Flanagan, according to a news release from Pontiac Fire Chief Jack Campbell.
The two agencies used a grain bin tube to protect the trapped person inside from the surrounding pressure of the matter inside the grain bin.
An incident commander from Pontiac also requested two vacuum trucks to remove the grain from around the trapped person; the trucks were provided by construction companies Linco-Precision LLC and Opperman Construction.
A technical rescue team from Normal's fire department also aided in the rescue that ended around 4:48 p.m.
According to a statement from NFD, the person rescued from the bin was taken to an area hospital in stable condition. No other information on the person was provided.
Personnel from Gridley's fire department also were on-scene, as was the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.
