Normal Police say one person was injured by gunfire Tuesday afternoon near the 200 block of Sandra Lane on the town's west side.

Police responded to a report of a person shot around 2 p.m. Paramedics transported the 19-year-old male victim to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 20-year-old from Normal was arrested in connection with the incident, police said. He faces reckless conduct and weapons charges.

The arrestee and victim are acquaintances, police said. The incident was an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety, police said.

Normal Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information on any case is asked to contact the Normal Police Criminal Investigations Division at 309-454-9535.
